try using a big C clamp to sqeeze the brake cylinder in, make sure you take off the lid of the brake master cylinder.when cylinder is pushed in make sure you put the lid back on so you don't get any air in the linesI need to know how to change the back disc brakes on the rear of a 1997 taurus. tried to push the cylinder in,
As has been stated there is a special tool that fits on/in the Caliper piston. It rotates in as its turned. The tool can be picked up at most auto parts stores for roughly 10 dollars. I've found it much easier to remove the rotor, then mount the caliper back on the car. This mounts the Caliper to something solid while you push and turn simultaneously with the tool. Once the cylinder is all the way back in, remove the caliper, remount the rotor, and finish as you would normally.
